Cougar Golfers Excel at Cottonwood

The Miller Jordan Cougar golf team competed at the inaugural San Benito Middle School Golf Invitational on Thursday, April 27 at the Cottonwood Creek Country Club.

The event was the second tournament of the season and there was much success to cheer about.   In the girls’ division, 8th grader Alyssa Hernandez took first place with a score of 30. Teammate Chasidy Tirado, also an 8th grader, earned second place with a 34.   For the boys’ division, 7th grader Nicholas Gonzales finished with a 41, good for second place, just one stroke behind the winner. Derek Garza, also a 7th grader, fired a 46 to earn fourth place while 8th grader Jorge Morgado shot a 48 to take sixth place.   Finishing just outside of placing were Omar Salinas (50) and Armando Garza (51).  The Cougar Golf team is coached by Coach Armando Garza.
